On-line Business Directory

The Chelmsford & Maldon on-line business directory has now been joined by Castle Point and is undergoing some key enhancements in the coming months. The two main areas where improvements are being made are in the categorisation of business types and adding a section to show where companies have accreditations and professional membership.
Over the next few weeks we will be amending and simplifying the main & sub business types and all existing entries on the directory will be automatically migrated to the new system. You will still have the ability to enter further details of your product(s) or service(s) in the free text box up to 5,000 characters. Most importantly, the words you use in this box are picked up on the ‘word’ search when someone is looking for the product or service you are offering…
Example:
Main business type = Retail
Sub business type = Non food
Free text box = Retailer of
boots, shoes, slippers and trainers
Therefore in a search where any of the bold words are entered, your business will be picked up. The second enhancement, already in place, is a facility where you can add accreditations, e.g. CORGI, ISO2001, IIP &/or Professional Organisation Membership, e.g. Chamber of Commerce, Guild of Master Craftsmen.
Remember, an entry in the directory is totally free to businesses and organisations based in the three districts and is accessed via the appropriate website…

Invitation to the launch of the Maldon District High Speed Broadband Pilot
Supported by an ECC grant, this innovative project will enable the district, to connect to fast broadband with throughput speeds of a ground breaking 100Mb/s. Remarkably - no telephone line is required to receive this service - instead it will be delivered through radio transmissions. The launch event will take place in Promenade Park, Maldon at 8.45am on Monday 10 May 2010.

Sustainable Tourism East - Training Opportunities
East of England Tourism will be running a series of training courses and environmental advisory visits in the Maldon area as part of its new project 'Sustainable Tourism East'.
